What You Need To Know About The Boot Camp

3 weeks

Become a better podcast editor in less than a month. Each week, you’ll receive one video module followed by a live Q&A session the following week. This gives you time to watch the video and complete your homework before we get together for the live call and answer your questions. Can’t make the live call, you can provide questions ahead of time and watch the replay.

Plugins

This course demonstrates how to easily clean up and mix audio using AI and Machine Learning-powered plugins. While these plugins aren’t required, they will speed up your process. They were selected because they provide a good starting point without needing to learn about audio engineering. See the FAQ below for more details.

DAW Agnostic

While the course material will be demonstrated mostly with Hindenburg Pro, the course is built to be DAW-agnostic. You’ll learn the techniques and concepts needed when editing your podcasts. You can apply these to whatever editing software you’re using.

3 Week Podcast Editing Boot Camp FAQ

The 3 Week Boot Camp is designed for new or newer podcast editors, whether you’re editing your own podcast or want to learn how to edit podcasts for others. It’s designed for podcasters and podcast editors who are working, or plan on working in a DAW. The boot camp isn’t built for podcasters and editors who are using text-based editing apps like Descript, Riverside, Podcastle, and similar apps.

The only thing you need to know is how to use your DAW. That is the only thing that won’t be covered. There are plenty of tutorials on YouTube to help you get up and running with your selection.

If you’re an experienced podcast editor, you’re unlikely to get much value out of the boot camp. We do have other options that might appeal to you like our Podcast Editing: Level Up course and one-on-one coaching.

The only thing you need to know before enrolling is how to use your editing program. I take a DAW agnostic approach to teach skills and concepts that can be applied to whichever editing program you choose to use. I do this because there are too many choices out there for me to teach how to use each one.

You will learn a workflow that allows you to produce better-sounding episodes using the latest AI-powered plugins to speed up the process without needing to learn the ins and outs of compression, EQ, and audio engineering. Most of these tools are the same as what I use every day as I edit for my clients. I use them because they save me time and give results that are in-line with what I could do manually.

Plan to set aside three hours each week: one hour to watch that week’s video, one hour to practice those concepts, and one hour for the Q&A.

You will need to have a DAW like:

Descript, Riverside, Podcastle, and others like that are not DAWs. If you are using one of those, this course isn’t going to be worth it for you unless you have become frustrated with their limitations and are making the switch to a DAW.

Since this boot camp is aimed at helping you without learning audio engineering, I recommend a few plugins that use AI and machine learning to give you a good place to start.

Audio Clean-up: Choose one or both

Mixing: choose one

Loudness Meter:

Throughout the boot camp, I use Hindenburg and will demonstrate using all of the above plugins. The workflows I demonstrate will be dependent on these plugins.

If you still have questions about what you need, you can always ask me inside the communty for guidance on what will be best for you and your budget.
